Thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Robin + Sons
the flowers got a chance to bloom this summer.
Back in June, all our efforts and ideas did little to deter the squirrels from digging up the new plantings in the pots/tires.
As we went on a 10 day vacation, we put in a request to the universe to keep the squirrels in check.
On our return from the wonderful vacation, I woke up to find all the plantings in-tact.
I felt proud that all the deterring smells of coffee, mint etc had kept the squirrels away. But as I sipped on my tea that morning, i witnessed an amazing play:
As a squirrel walked into the back yard, from nowhere flew in a robin and pecked it. The squirrel ran in to a nearby tree. Then the real show began: it was amazing to see the two robins (mom and pop) strategically peck the squirrel out of the tree and chase it out of the yard.
Putting two and two together:
they were protecting the young one’s in the nest (which they had built on our deck in the back yard).
